    Description: 
    A bronze eagle with wings spread is mounted atop a large granite monument adorned with a relief of the Wisconsin state seal and a recessed inscription panel.

    Remarks: 
    Commissioned by Civil War veterans, the sculpture was installed by the State of Wisconsin with a $10,000 appropriation from the state legislature. The sculpture honors Wisconsin Civil War soldiers who suffered and died in Andersonville Prison. The sculpture was built by contractor C. J. Clark.
