Description:
A fallen color sergeant being embraced by a female figure representing Victory. She holds the soldier in her proper left arm; and a flagstaff in her proper right arm. Set in the base are three relief panels with battle scenes.

Remarks:
The monument was erected in memory of the 14th, 16th, and 18th regiments of volunteers. The figures were designed by Bringhurst and the pedestal by Charles A. Fink. It was erected by W. R. Hodges of St. Louis at a cost of $13,225. The flagstaff and the color sergeant's sword have been broken off. Funded by State Government.
