Description:
Bronze plaque features bas relief profile portrait of William R. Royster. Proper right side of Royster's head is depicted alongside inscriptions on plaque. Plaque is mounted on the upper section of a granite stele, which sits on a concrete foundation.

Remarks:
Erected by family and friends of William Reid Royster. Royster (1914-1972) was a political leader from the Northeast section of Kansas City. He was a representative in the Missouri Legislature at the time of his death. IAS files contain copy from Kansas City Times, Oct. 31, 1973, which discusses the decision of the Board of Parks and Recreation Commissioners to allow the installation.
