    Remarks:
Nearby plaque: "Alvernia. On Monte Alvernia, St. Francis received the stigmata--the wounds of Christ. This sculpture symbolizes: Christ's hand - Francis' stigmata; five rays - wounds of Christ; the wing - the crucified Lord as a six-winged seraph; the sunburst - the apex of Francis' pain - filled but enraptured ecstasy culminated in the hymn "The Canticle of Brother Sun". Lord, make us instruments of your peace. Sister M. Theodorette, CSB. Oct. 3, 1989." The artist, who had been a teacher at the college, donated the sculpture to the school.
