The poles in the Brady Collection became part of the park in 1906. IAS files contain an excerpt from "Carved History," a publication of the National Park Service.
IAS files contain a detailed condition assessment, "Carved Pole Condition Survey," June 1991, prepared by Ron Sheetz and Alan Levitan, National Park Service, Division of Conservation, Harpers Ferry Center. For detailed treatment information, see IAS files for "Sitka National Historical Park: Totem Pole Preservation Project/92," by Ron Sheetz and Alan Levitan, and a National Park Service publication, "Preservation Tech Notes: Exterior Woodwork," no. 4, Oct. 1993.
