The poles in the Brady Collection became part of the park in 1906. IAS files contain an excerpt from "Carved History," a publication of the National Park Service.

For detailed treatment information, see IAS files for "Sitka National Historical Park: Totem Pole Preservation Project/92," by Ron Sheetz and Alan Levitan, and a National Park Service publication, "Preservation Tech Notes: Exterior Woodwork," no. 4, Oct. 1993.
