    Description:
The Faust ArtPark consisted of some 150 pieces of sculpture composed of objects and natural materials found on site. The works use spiritual icons, symbols and images from African, Native American, Hindu, Christian and astrological philosophies. The sculptures are interactive, and are altered when touched by humans, wind and light. "Harmony is not Easy" is a globe-like work which must be shaken in order to hear its music. "Rainbow People" combines Nigerian and Hindu Chakra traditions. It is comprised of seven figures who each represent a Nigerian deity. Each figure is painted a color found in Chakra crystals to represent the seven life forces of the Hindu Chakra. Paintings on plexiglas attached to white surfaces become animated by a moving light source. Other works incorporate images of crosses, a kaleidoscope, Nigerian goddesses, totem poles, Shaman folklore, the Zodiac and Hebrew letters.

    Owner:
    Faust, Lawrence, Gloversville, New York
    Provenance:
Formerly located Faust ArtPark, 136 McKinley Avenue, Northville, New York 12134 1989 to ca. 2006.
    Remarks:
The Faust ArtPark was located in Northville, New York, but when the artist moved to Gloversville, New York, the ArtPark was removed from the Northville site. The Faust ArtPark had been installed on the historic site of a 150 year old rail station in the Adirondack's Sacandaga Park. The artist began creating and installing pieces in 1989 and work was continuing in June 1999, when the park and its art works were reported to IAS. Some pieces are indoors, but most are outdoors. IAS files contain a 1998 essay by Alison Rinner and a related article from the journal Raw Vision, Spring 1999. For related reading, see Adirondack Life magazine, June 1999.
