The central feature of the pediment is a medieval suit of armor with an American eagle resting on top of the helmet. A sword runs through the helmet. Behind the armor are two United States shields and behind the shields are four symbols of Roman military force. On the right is a torch and a battle axe and on the left is a Roman standard and a fasces. Draped spears extend from the sides of the shields partially obscuring a cannon and cannon balls at the base of the pediment. In the right corner there are oak leaves which symbolize strength and in the left corner there are laurel leaves which were used by the Greeks to crown their victors.

The Old Executive Office Building was originally known as the State, War and Navy Building. SOS! surveyor was unable to complete the condition portion of the survey because of the height of the pediment sculpture.
