Inscription:  (On front of base:) ERECTED/IN MEMORY OF/THE SOLDIERS OF/1861-1865/1908 unsigned Description:  Full-length figure of a Civil War soldier. He is dressed in uniform and wears a cap and long overcoat. The cape of his coat is thrown over his proper right shoulder. He holds the barrel of a gun with both hands; the butt of the gun rests on the ground in front of him. The granite sculpture stands atop a five-tiered granite base. The outer edges of the lower tiers are rough-hewn.
