Description:
A fireman holds a young baby draped in a white sheet in his proper left hand, and a bronze lantern with his proper right hand. The fireman wears a uniform, with blue coat and pants with gold trim, and a red fireman's hat. The sculpture is mounted on a columnar base with yellow rope and fleur-de-lis reliefs. In front there is a spout and basin, and a working water fountain on the back.

Remarks:
The sculpture was restored in 1980 after it was damaged by a hit-and-run driver in the fall of 1979. Following the restoration the sculpture was rededicated in July 1980. The sculpture was rededicated on Sept. 11, 2010, and attending the rededication ceremony were members of the 1980 restoration committee.
