This sculpture recognizing the triumph of Slidell over the damage caused by Hurricane Katrina consists of a large steel pipe, thirteen feet four inches high and twenty-four inches in diameter, topped with a small fleur de lis. A hurricane symbol is incised on the side of the pipe at the seven foot mark to indicate the water level in Heritage Park in the wake of the storm.

The sculpture was unveiled during the memorial ceremony marking the fifth anniversary of Hurricane Katrina which hit the Gulf Coast on Aug. 29, 2005. The artist, a former resident of Slidell, donated the sculpture in recognition of the citizens of Slidell and their resilience in overcoming the destruction from Hurricane Katrina. IAS files contain a copy of an article from the Denver Post, Aug. 27, 2010.
