    (Ganymede), (sculpture).
    Artist:
    Dillens, Julien, 1849-1904, sculptor.
    Comp. des Bronzes Bruxelles, founder.
    Title:
    (Ganymede), (sculpture).
    Medium:
    Sculpture: bronze; Base: brick.
    Dimensions:
    Sculpture: approx. 4 1/2 ft. x 20 in. x 18 in.; Base: approx. 27 x 27 x 28 in.
    Inscription:
    J. Dillens Cu des Bronzes/Brusselles signed Founder's mark appears.
    Description:
The sculpture is composed of a nude male figure wearing a wreath on his head, and an eagle. The man looks skyward and walks forward with his proper left leg. He raises his proper right hand and points his index finger to something in the sky. It appears that his proper right hand may have once held something, perhaps an olive branch, that is now missing. His proper left hand extends behind him and an eagle standing on a tree stump behind him raises its head under the figures proper left arm. The eagles wings are spread and it, too, looks into the sky. The sculpture rests on a square brick base.
