Description:
A fireman in uniform and helmet strides forward with his proper right arm raised and his proper left arm holding an infant to his chest. He stands atop a base consisting of a dome on a pediment supported by columns set upon a multitiered platform. Sitting on the platform beneath the dome is an inscribed stele.

Remarks:
Presented to the Hudson County Park Commission by Edwin M. Farrier on behalf of his deceased father, Capt. Frederick T. Farrier. Capt. Farrier bequested the sculpture as a token of the friendship and esteem in which he held his former associates in the Volunteer Fire Department. IAS files contain related articles from The Jersey Journal (Jersey City, NJ), Nov. 11, 1931; Nov. 20, 1991, pg. 16; and one undated article. IAS files also contain a flyer announcing the design contest and a schedule of the dedication ceremony.
