Description:
Golfer Gene Sarazen stands with his proper right foot crossed over his proper left foot. His proper right arm is bent at the elbow with his palm resting on a golf club. He rests his proper left hand on his hip with elbow facing backwards. He wears his patented knickers, a short sleeve dress shirt and tie, and a golf hat. The sculpture is mounted on an underground foundation.

Remarks:
Gene Sarazen was the first golfer to win all four major tournaments, including the U. S. Open, the PGA Championship, and the British Open. The portrait sculpture of Sarazen was dedicated before his annual charity benefit golf tournament on Marco Island. The tournament and dedication were held on Sarazen's 94th birthday, February 27, 1996. The tournament benefits the newly founded Gene and Mary Sarazen Foundation. Tom Di Rocco was the landscape architect for the project.
