    The sculpture was installed through the King Memorial Project coordinated by the City of Fresno Martin Luther King, Jr. Unity Committee, Fresno United School District, and California State University, Fresno. The sculpture was funded by community organizations. Robert G. Barnes cast the sculpture at the California State University, Fresno foundry.
