Formerly in the collection of City of New Bern, New Bern, North Carolina

Commissioned by New Bern City Council as the City's contribution to the centennial celebrations of Morehead City. The sculpture was created by Cedric M. Boyd, Director of Public Works, and Heber Coward, a Public Works Department employee. The bear was chosen because it is the symbol of the City of New Bern. After the celebrations, the bear was given to the high school. In 1991, when a new high school was built, the bear was moved to the new school.
