Remarks:
Sculpture was a student project at Sabin Junior High. The school team is called the "Sabin Saints" so a Saint Bernard dog was chosen for the student project. Greg Cowan asked teacher Chuck E. Kovac to design the sculpture. Kovac also made patterns and shaped pieces. Under the direction of Greg Cowan, the students in the industrial arts class cut out the pieces and welded them onto the sculpture. The students worked over four semesters to complete the sculpture and were encouraged to etch their names on the pieces they cut and welded. Greg Cowan designed and made the substructure. There is a time capsule in the belly of the Saint Bernard. Although there is a place designed on the base for a plaque, one has neither been designed nor placed there.
