    Description:
A Civil War soldier stands at parade rest holding the stock of his rifle upright with both hands, the butt of which rests in front of his proper right foot. He wears a broad-brimmed hat and sports a mustache and trimmed goatee. He wears a canteen on his belt on his proper left side and a blanket roll across his chest from his proper left shoulder to his proper right hip. A bayonet sheath is at his proper left side. The sculpture has an antique brown finish. The sculpture rests atop a tapered column with a three-stepped bottom. A Confederate flag is depicted in relief on the front of the column. On the front bottom of the shaft, a relief in the shape of a shield encloses letters in an interwoven design. A circular metal medallion is attached to the front of the shaft below this. It presents a horseman in proper right profile wearing Revolutionary garb and a tri-cornered hat. He is pointing. The horseman is surrounded by a vegetal border, perhaps corn and tobacco. Below the horseman and on the outer border is an inscription. Cannon balls were once piled in front of the sculpture and are now missing. The sculpture has an antique bronze finish.
