    Description: 
    Two identical reclining male lions are installed flanking the front entrance to Koester House. The lions face each other, front paws stretched out and hanging over the base slightly. Each lion is mounted on a long, rectangular iron pedestal. The lions are cast iron and are painted gold; the pedestals are painted green. The pedestals sit on low brick platforms.

    Remarks: 
    These two sculptures and others were purchased in 1881 from the Composite Iron Works Company by Marysville banker Charles F. Koester for his family home, where he developed a formal garden and an outdoor sculpture collection. The Koester House was listed on the National Historic Register in 1975.
