Description:
This abstract sculpture consists of eighty-four color video monitors arranged in a geometric pattern over the entrance to One Franklin Town Apartments. The monitors are mounted on three rows of vertical steel beams that are supported by twenty-four open metal columns. Wisteria vines adorn the vertical steel beams. Rapidly changing video images flash from each of the monitors. Forty-two monitors display local images of Philadelphia and forty-two display images of nature.

The sculpture was initiated by the Redevelopment Authority of the City of Philadelphia. The inscription on a plaque located on the far left wall of the One Franklin Town building reads: VIDEO ARBOR/BY NAM JUNE PAIK/THIS WORK WAS COMMISSIONED BY/FOREST CITY RESIDENTIAL DEVELOPMENT, INC./IN COOPERATION WITH THE REDEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY /OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA/ONE PERCENT FINE ARTS PROGRAM/AND THE COMMONWEALTH OF PENNSYLVANIA/THE ARTIST ACKNOWLEDGES THE FOLLOWING PROJECT ASSOCIATES: CARL SOLWAY GALLERY, THE STROHMAIER DESIGN, BENTLY MEISNER ASSOCIATES, INC., THP LIMITED/SAMSUNG ELECTRONICS, PROZE AND ADELCO, INC.
