The stone is carved in relief with an emblem depicting an open

incised with: SEARCH THE SCRIPTURES-SUFFER THE LITTLE CHILDREN TO COME UNTO ME AND FORBID THEM NOT OF SUCH IS THE KINGDOM OF GOLD. (Luke XVII V. 16) on the left page, and on the right page: TRAIN UP A CHILD IN THE WAY HE SHOULD GO, AND WHEN HE IS OLD, HE WILL NOT DEPART FROM IT (Proverbs XXII V. 6). Surrounding the emblem of the

Remarks:
One of 193 commemorative stones set into the interior walls of the Washington Monument. The stones were donated by states, cities, towns, organizations, individuals, and foreign countries in honor of George Washington. The Sabbath School Children of the Methodist-Episcopal Church of Philadelphia donated the stone, which is located at the 260 ft. level.
