    Description: 
    Two eagles and two plaques are part of the Memorial Gateway to the Simsbury Cemetery. The eagles are perched atop round globes that cap the two frontmost pillars of the gateway. The eagles have outstretched wings and look inward. Bas-relief plaques are mounted on the forward extending walls of the gateway. Both plaques feature a patterned border with a leaf motif, surrounding raised text and a furled flag.

    Remarks: 
    Gift of Mr. & Mrs. Lemuel Stoughton Ellsworth to honor Simsbury citizens who fought in the Civil and First World Wars. IAS files contain a copy of the dedication brochure. Gateway designed by Lionel Moses, an employee of Gorham Company. Eagles were modeled by Edwin Codman and plaques by Frank Zeigler, both of the Gorham Company, Providence.
