    Description: 
    A Union soldier in uniform stands at sentry stance, holding the barrel of his rifle with bayonet with both hands, the butt of which rests by his feet. The soldier wears a visored cap with a short-caped coat. The soldier is mounted upon a tall, square base with a shaft-like upper section with a cornice with darts and stylized acanthus leaves around the top. The lower section of the shaft is inscribed and is on top of a stepped, lower base with an inscription. Two cannons flank the lower section of the base, and the monument is atop a short, raised platform with a step in the front,
