    Description: 
    A linear depiction of a traditional school globe with three closed books leaning up against it, and an open book lying on its back, all on a beam in the shape of a stylized pen. The sculpture is mounted on a tall wooden post with a school sign suspended below it.

    The sculpture and sign were designed by Arthur W. Swanson, of Cider Hill Woodworks. The wrought iron portions were forged by James Kearney. The sculpture was paid for with funds used to renovate the school. Sign which hangs below sculpture reads: VILLAGE/ELEMENTARY/SCHOOL. IAS files contain a related article from The York Weekly (York, ME), April 27, 1994, pg. 1; and a correction relating to that article which appeared on May 4, 1994, pg. 2.
