Remarks:
The sculpture is a copy of a sculpture at the Carmelite Monastery in Lisieux, France. The copy was commissioned by the Monastery of the Discalced Carmelites in Concord, NH, as a tribute to the founding Mother. It was carved in Pietrasanta, Italy by Enrico Arrighini & Figlio. The copy was found unsatisfactory by the commissioning monastery (a second sculpture was commissioned), and was sold to St. Patrick's. The sculpture was given by Alice Dineen in memory of her parents, John and Alice Dineen. Originally, Mary's crown had ornamentation around the top; after an ornament had broken off and could not be replaced, Castle Marble Company removed all of the ornaments from the crown. IAS files contain copy of related article from Hampton Union, Aug. 17, 1961.
