    Description: 
    Colossal granite figure of Mary holding the infant Christ. Mary wears long robes and a crown. She holds the infant, who faces out, in front of her chest. He sits on her proper left arm; her proper right hand supports his chest. The sculpture stands on a glacial rock boulder.

    Remarks: 
    The sculpture was designed by DeSoto. A clay model was fabricated by Carusi & Fantoni; and the final sculpture was fabricated by Rock of Ages-Aronte Sculpture in Barre, VT. The sculpture was contracted in 1974 and installed in 1975. The boulder and the land the sculpture rests on were donated to the shrine in 1957 by Frances and John Harrison. IAS files contain copy of related shrine brochure and fact sheet.
