Remarks:
According to the artist, the sculpture represents the stones that might be seen at the bottom of the Mississippi River were it not muddy. The sculpture sits on the former site of St. Mary's Market, surrounding but apart from stones, replicated remnants of collapsed stone columns which act as benches. The current layout was originally planned on a much grander scale and was intended to run 3 blocks in length. The completed project runs 1 block in length.
