    Description:
Site installation consisting of many parts. The focal point of the installation is a bronze sculpture depicting a human arm and hand reaching up to the sky. On the wrist is an identification tattoo from the Auschwitz concentration camp. Nearly a hundred life-size human figures climb the arm trying to escape. Scattered around the base of the sculpture are additional figures, some lying down, some standing and reaching to those already on the arm. One figure of a lone child sits on the ground crying, some distance from the arm. On a circular base near the arm, two female figures lay dead, their long gowns flowing down from the base. On another base nearby is a full-length figure of a mother with two small children wrapped in her arms. The sculpture is surrounded by a reflecting pool. A black granite wall circles around the outer edge of the pool. Fifty photographs depicting scenes of the Holocaust are etched into the surface of the wall. A tunnel leads to a sunken plaza on which the giant arm sculpture sits. The floor of the plaza is made of pink Jerusalem stone. Black granite walls encircle the plaza.
