Remarks:
The totem pole was created during the Quilcene community fair and installed the following year. The totem was painted by Shirley Canterbury. The totem pole was downed with a chain saw by a vandal in January of 1991. The artist repaired the totem and trimmed the wing tips of the thunderbird. On May 1, 1991, volunteers reinstalled the totem pole. Landscaping at the totem's base was completed by the Quilcene Garden Club. IAS files contain a related article about the reinstallation from the Port Townsend Leader, May 15, 1991.
