Description:
A standing portrait of Christopher Columbus holding a scroll in his proper right hand and resting his proper left hand on a globe. Behind him is a low wall adorned with a mooring ring. The sculpture rests atop a tall square base which rests on a set of three steps. On front of the granite base, just below the sculpture, is a bronze wreath.

Remarks:
The sculpture was given to the City of Baltimore by the Italian United Society of Baltimore on the fourth centenary of the discovery of America. It is a copy of one located in Genoa, Italy by Achille Canessa. The base was fabricated by L. Hilgartner & Sons. The bronze wreath on the base was subsequently given by local Italian societies.
