    Description: 
    Curved mural with panels depicting scenes from the French and Indian War, Spanish American War, Civil War, World War I and II, and the Korean War. From left to right: the French and Indian War scene depicts an Indian in headdress holding a pipe, standing next to a male figure in 18th Century military garb, while two soldiers peer over a fort blockade; A uniformed officer on a horse, with a barechested man in the foreground pushing a wagon, as two uniformed Civil War soldiers march; A World War I battlefield scene, with soldiers wearing gas masks; World War II battlefield scene with a large tank; Korean War scene with soldiers, and two aircraft flying in the background. Names of the wars are marked throughout the mural. The mural is painted red and attached with metal brackets above courthouse entrance. It is sheltered by an open ceiling rotunda.

    Remarks: 
    The mural was erected as part of the construction of the new County courthouse, which was built 1951-1952. The cost of the mural was $3,500. (Construction costs for the entire Courthouse was $870,117.73). IAS files contain contract specifications for installation of the mural and newspaper article from Minden Press, Jan. 23, 1953, pg. 1, 16.
