    Italian marble on a limestone pedestal and marble cubic monolith.

    Sculpture: approx. 6 ft. x 18 in. x 18 in.; Base: approx. 9 x 9 x 9 ft.

    Description: 
    Figure of a union soldier standing at parade rest. He wears a uniform consisting of a long coat, a cape buttoned at the top and a cap. The mustached figure holds the barrel of a rifle with both hands. The butt of the gun rests in front of his proper right foot.

    The monument was originally located on the east side of the sidewalk near the north door of the Whitley County Courthouse. It was moved approx. 40 ft. to its current location on Courthouse Square.
