Description:
A moustached, uniformed Union soldier stands at parade rest with both hands on the barrel of his rifle, the butt of which rests by his feet. He wears a visored cap, and a short cape over a knee-length coat. The soldier is mounted on a tall, multitiered base, with an upper shaft-like section and a lower, more ornate section. The front of the shaft is decorated with a relief of an eagle and star. The lower section has classical columns on its four sides and reliefs of two cannons and cannonballs on the front. On the sides and back of the base are reliefs of crossed swords, rifles and an anchor with ropes. The monument is fenced.
