    Description: 
    Figure of a Union soldier, standing and holding a rifle in both hands. He holds the rifle in a horizontal position at waist level. His proper left foot is forward and his toe extends slightly past the edge of the plinth. He wears a military uniform including a hip-length jacket and a cap. He stands atop a tall Corinthian column, set upon a tiered-rectangular base.

    Remarks: 
    The monument was placed by battle veterans in commemoration of their active participation toward supporting General William T. Sherman in seizing Missionary Ridge. The cost was $10,000. The monument is on the National Park Service List of Classified Structures (LCS no.08696). IAS files contain a copy of the LCS report form.
