Medium:  Figure: granite; Base: granite. Dimensions:  Column: approx. 35 x 14 x 14 ft.; Rectangular base: approx. 12 x 14 x 14 ft. Inscription:  unsigned Description:  Figure of a Union soldier, standing and holding a rifle in both hands. He holds the rifle in a horizontal position at waist level. His proper left foot is forward and his toe extends slightly past the edge of the plinth. He wears a military uniform including a hip-length jacket and a cap. He stands atop a tall Corinthian column, set upon a tiered-rectangular base.
