Description:
Full-length figure of a uniformed Confederate soldier stands atop a tall, tapered pedestal. The figure leans against his rifle, held in both hands at his proper left side. He has a moustache and his uniform includes a rolled-up item draped across his proper left shoulder.

Provenance:
Formerly located Intersection of Main and Washington Streets, Winnsboro, South Carolina 1901-1962.
Remarks:
Commissioned by the Ladies Memorial Association for $2,200. It was carved in Philadelphia and assembled in Winnsboro by Louis Bye. The sculpture was originally located in the middle of Main Street, then Congress Street, and was moved to the Mt. Zion school campus in March 1962. A new base was added at that time.
