    Remarks: 
    Born in Dobbs County, North Carolina (now Greene County). He moved to Tennessee and settled in Roane County. He first married Mary Moore Allison, and then Mrs. Nancy Clark Cox Allison. He was the first sheriff of Roane County from 1801-1825. He raised and equipped the East Tennessee volunteer militia, and was its colonel. He was also a commissioned Brig. General of the 7th Brigade. He helped establish the Rittenhouse Academy in Roane County.
