Remarks:
The sculpture was installed by the citizens of Jersey Shore and vicinity in memory of the soldiers and sailors who served in the Revolution, the War of 1812, the Mexican War, the Civil War, and the Spanish American War. The column on which the sculpture is mounted was taken from the State Capitol in Harrisburg which was built between 1819 and 1821. The capitol building was destroyed by fire on February 2, 1897. Contractor for the project was M. H. Stebbens. The sculpture was erected under the direction of stonemason Adam J. Burger of Antes Fort. The sculpture was dedicated on Memorial Day, May 30, 1908.
