    Description: 
    A tall shaft atop a two-tiered base. At the top of the shaft is an eagle with outspread wings. Around the base of the shaft are four bronze plaques. The relief on the front plaque depicts a female figure, symbolic of Peace. On the rear plaque is a relief of a standing soldier.

    Remarks: 
    Cost $20,000. This monument was erected by the veterans of three brigades in commemoration of their participation in the Battle of Lookout Mountain, Nov. 24, 1863. The Second, Twelfth and Fourteenth army corps were involved. The monument is on the National Park Service List of Classified Structures (LCS no. 08701). IAS files contain a copy of the LCS report form.
