Remarks:
The idea for the monument was conceived by members of the Dons Club. Guirey, a landscape architect for the Arizona Highways Beautification Project, designed the monument. Briest fabricated the metal cutouts from a piece of salvaged boiler plate. The monument was assembled by members of the Dons club with the assistance of volunteer labor from the Stone Masons and Brick Layers Union in Phoenix. Cost of the monument was $150.00, including $60.00 for a cast bronze plaque which described the history of the legend of the Lost Dutchman's Mine. IAS files contain copy of souvenir booklet "History of the Lost Dutchman Monument, Apache Junction, Arizona", 1988 and copy of brochure "Lost Dutchman's Monument Rededication Ceremony 1938-1988".
