Inscription:  (On base, front, in raised letters:) IN MEMORY OF/OUR NATION'S DEFENDERS (On base, right:) ERECTED BY THE/CITIZENS OF/CLAYTON COUNTY (On base, left:) FRATERNITY/CHARITY/LOYALTY Description:  Uniformed soldier stands a tiered pedestal. The figure is bearded, wears an Inverness coat and a cap. He holds his rifle in front of him, both hands around the barrel and the butt on the ground. The pedestal is decorated with crossed rifles, an eagle and a shield.
