Tapered Art Deco obelisk stands on a round, stepped base. The top of the piece is set with glass, allowing illumination from within.

Remarks:
The monument is dedicated to Captain Henry Lomb (1828-1908), a patriot, pioneer manufacturer, founder of the Mechanics Institute, and public benefactor. The sculpture was a gift of the Bausch and Lomb families. IAS files contain a copy of the dedication program, a Rochester's Public Art Catalog Form, and an article from the Rochester Ubenpost, May 9, 1932.
