Description:
A relief plaque with a curved top affixed to the side of a large boulder. The upper section of the relief plaque depicts a company of World War I soldiers marching in formation, each carrying a rifle slung over his proper right shoulder. Two flags are raised in the background behind the figures. A single figure leads the soldiers. A laurel branch is incorporated over the upper half of the relief plaque.

Remarks:
In 1920 the town of Francestown voted to appropriate funds for a memorial tablet honoring its World War soldiers. The memorial tablet cost $500. The artist was paid $400 and J. F. Brennan was paid $55 for setting the relief plaque with the remaining $45 paid to various individuals for transporting materials. The monument was dedicated on Labor Day in 1920. IAS files contain related articles from the Peterborough Transcript, Aug. 26, 1920; and Sept. 9, 1920. IAS files contain a related excerpt from "Financial and School Reports of the Town of Francestown Together with the Vital Statistics for the Year Ending January 31, 1921," Peterborough, New Hampshire, 1921, pg. 6-7, 14-15.
