    Description: 
    An eagle perched on the left arm of a Celtic cross. The eagle leans forward with its proper right wing slightly extended beyond the cross and the proper left wing draped over and behind the head of the cross. The cross-section of the cross has an incised design of an endless knot and a circle connects the four arms. On the shaft of the cross are four panels of incised, abstract designs. The cross sits on a base with an inscription.

    Remarks: 
    Sally James Farnham designed the eagle; Claude Fayette Bragdon designed the cross. Sculpture commissioned by Grand Army of the Republic committee for a then newly developed veterans section of the cemetery for men who served in the Civil War.
