    Remarks:
The bulls were modeled in plaster and exhibited at the Salon of 1865 in Paris. Bulls were cast in an edition of three in different sizes. The first cast, commissioned by the Sultan Abdul Aziz of Constantinople, was never paid for, and its location is not known. Another cast was sold in New York and the last cast was located at an abattoir in Paris. It is not known whether these particular figures were those sold in New York, or if they were purchased by Mr. Colt of Bristol for his farm, now Colt State Park, in Paris when he purchased other art. IAS files include a related article from "Country Life" Dec. 14, 1989, a page from a Sotheby catalog, a reference to a Rhode Island Historical Preservation Commission Publication entitled "Calendar of Colt Farm, August, Main Entrance to Farm," 1921. Site is listed with the National Register Poppasquark Farms Historic District.
