Description:
A relief plaque of six nude cupids frolicking around an overturned urn, with a band of garlands interwoven between them. On the right side of the relief is an urn atop a pedestal.

Remarks:
The sculpture is styled after the works of the 17th century French artist Edme Bouchardon. The relief plaque formerly decorated the entrance foyer of the New York mansion of Cornelius Vanderbilt III. The mansion was built around 1880 and razed in 1928. IAS files contain a related brochure "The Outdoor Art of the Country Club District," Kansas City, MO: J. C. Nichols Company, 1978. A companion plaque of cupids making music is located at 63rd & Indian Lane, in Mission Hills (Kansas).
