Although Schmidt's birthday was on Feb. 13, 1950, the fountain was not completed until 1952. The bronze figures were brought from New York. The child with the fish is called "Teme" and the child with the goose is called "Kennet." The fountain was designed by the Olympia Brewing Company's engineering staff. A. G. Homann Company did the construction. The tile work was done by Pacific Art Tile Company.
