Description:
Audie L. Murphy stands wearing an infantry soldier's camouflage uniform with a greenish tinge. He wears a helmet and boots, a belt with a "U.S." revolver hanging from it, a canteen, a storage pouch and a grenade that hangs on the proper left side of his chest. He holds a machine gun with both hands.

Remarks:
Commemorates Audie L. Murphy (1924-1971), a Texan and the most decorated soldier of World War II. The sculpture was made possible through donations from individuals, the Texas Department of the American Legion, the Austin chapter of the Military Order of World Wars and the National Guard Association of Texas. IAS files contain transcription of names on plaque.
