    The sculpture was a gift to the students from the artist. It is meant "to symbolize how the Jews have been tossed about like driftwood for most of their history." IAS files contain transcription on adjacent plaque and newspaper clipping from Arizona Daily Star dated April 25, 1985, pg.1.
