    Remarks:
Commissioned by The Aluminum Company of America. The piece was cast using a "lost styrofoam process," which is similar to the "lost wax process" of casting. First, an exact full-size model of the piece is made in styrofoam. Then the artist packs the piece in a sand mold inside a flask built of two inch planks. When the molten aluminum is poured into the flask, it vaporizes the styrofoam, but the aluminum is held in place by the sand. The piece was cast by the Besco Manufacturing Company. At the time of SOS! survey in June 1995, the piece had been removed for restoration and the SOS! volunteer was unable to complete the conditions portion of the survey. The SOS! survey notes that the piece was removed for restoration in early 1995.
