Administered by Sisters of Holy Cross, Berakah, Fairview Road, RFD 1, Box 191, Pittsfield, New Hampshire 03263
Located Our Lady of the Smile Shrine, Berakah, Fairview Road, Pittsfield, New Hampshire
Provenance:
Formerly in the collection of Franciscan Fathers of New Hampshire, Pittsfield, New Hampshire
Remarks:
The sculpture is part of a larger shrine built by Franciscan monks in 1954. It is likely the sculpture was installed at the time the shrine was built. Originally the sculpture was in an exposed location and consequently suffered weather damage. When the shrine was sold to the Sisters of the Holy Cross in 1970, the sculpture was repainted by one of the Sisters and moved into a sheltered niche. The sculpture is wrapped and put into storage every winter. IAS files contain copy of related article from The Valley Times (Pittsfield, NH), May 28, 1954.
