    Description: 
    A war memorial consisting of a tall black marble shaft flanked by two much shorter pedestals each topped with a granite eagle. On the front center of the shaft is a sculpted light gray granite sword draped with a victory wreath.

    Remarks: 
    The memorial commemorate the war dead of Elizabeth, New Jersey. It was erected by the Elizabeth Veterans' War Memorial Committee at a cost of $25,000. It was dedicated on Memorial Day 1954. Controversy arose when, in an effort to avoid possible slighting, the Committee decided to ban all names from inclusion on the memorial.
